Three-vehicle accident in Calmar causes $16,200 in damages

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's office reports responding to a traffic accident on Thursday in Calmar.

61-year-old Norman Gee of Hawkeye was traveling south on Highway 52, followed by 48-year-old Kathleen Hefel of Dyersville. Both Gee and Hefel proceeded through the railroad crossing after a train passed, then stopped for other traffic across the tracks. 46-year-old Matthew Long of Platteville, IA did not see them stopped, and hit Hefel in the rear which pushed into Gee. Gee's vehicle sustained minor damage and both vehicles struck were disabled.

No injuries were reported. The collision caused $16,200 of damage. Long was cited for failure to maintain control.
