Losing a loved one brings on a series of complex emotions. Confronting the pain and other aspects of grief with the support of others can be an effective way to deal with loss.
Winneshiek Medical Center Hospice will be offering a free six-week grief support group on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. starting this Wednesday. Sessions will be held in the Home Health and Hospice conference room at WMC. Please enter through the east entrance, door E1.
"When people experience grief, they often feel a lot of support from friends and family at first, but as others go on with their lives, that support can seem harder to find," said Winneshiek Medical Center Social Worker Melissa Whelan, the coordinator of the grief support program. "One purpose of the Grief Support Group is to help provide ongoing support from others who truly understand how difficult grief can be, as well as education on navigating through the difficult grief process."
Registration is required. Call 563-387-3024 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or visit at
