Two-vehicle accident causes $35,000 in damages

Decorah Police ticketed a Postville woman following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 9 Friday morning.

Police say 64-year-old Nancy Berns was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle.  Burns struck the rear of a car owned by 56-year-old Marcia Madrigal of Decorah as Madrigal had stopped, waiting to turn left onto a private driveway from Highway 9.  Berns said she looked down to get an item of food in her car and looked up to see Madrigal's SUV waiting to turn left.

Burns was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center.  Madrigal was not injured.  Burns' truck had $20,000 in damages, while Madrigal's SUB had $15,000 in damages.
