Flags will be flown in Decorah on Friday

Friday is National Vietnam War Veterans Day nationally, which means American flags will be flown in Decorah.

The holiday recognizes veterans who served in the US military during the Vietnam War.

In 2012, the 50 year anniversary of the Vietnam War, President Barack Obama proclaimed March 29th Vietnam Veterans Day and called upon "all Americans to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities."

In 2017, President Donald Trump signed the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, which officially recognizes March 29th as National Vietnam War Veterans Day and includes the day among those days on which the US flag should be displayed.
