A Decorah man is being accused of violating the terms of his pretrial release on a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.
58-year-old Ronald Meyer of Decorah earlier was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor for allegedly videotaping his actions involving a minor. He was scheduled for a pretrial conference on the charge on Tuesday.
But Waukon Police contacted the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office about a report that Meyer had allegedly stolen property from a neighbor's apartment. Meyer told Waukon Police he had a key to the neighbor's apartment and went into it when she was not there. Meyer now faces Allamakee County charges of burglary and of theft.
Bond was set at $1,000 on the Winneshiek County charge of Violation of Pretrial. Meyer has posted bond, but faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if he is found guilty of violating pretrial conditions again.
Meanwhile, Meyer's next court appearance in Winneshiek County has been pushed back to 9:30 a.m. next Tuesday, April 2nd.
