Two Trees Pizza in Ossian is a family affair for the Zweibohmer family

It's been two and a half years since Ossian resident Mark Zweibohmer had a spinal cord injury.  Mark completed physical therapy in March 2018 and sees his doctor for yearly checkups at the Mayo Clinic. Mark has worked at Egeland Tiling for 23 years and his wife, Annette, worked in day care for 21 years. As Mark began thinking about the future for his family, he thought a restaurant could be a good investment.

Two Trees Pizza opened for business in Ossian last October. Their business name comes from the meaning of their last name, Zweibohmer: "two trees".

Mark and Annette, along with their three daughters, Montanah, Alyssa and Adrianna, as well as five other employees, keep the restaurant running smoothly. Their record is baking 105 pizzas in 5 hours the second Friday they opened.

To learn about the pizza business, Mark approached Jerry and Jeannie Sandry of Forest City, who owned three locations of Borderline Pizza. Jerry was more than happy to help out and shared their signature sauce at no charge. He was pleased to see his recipe will live on, as he has closed his restaurants.

"The crispy crust is key to our pizza," Mark shared with decorahnews.com. In the spring it's not unusual for Mark to work 13 hours at his day job and then make pizzas in the evenings. Two Trees Pizza offers toppings of beef, Canadian bacon, pepperoni, and sausage, to name a few. On Thursday nights they've been serving U2 BBQ Brisket pizza as a fun option for customers.

Two Trees Pizza is located at 115 E. Main Street in Ossian.  Their hours are 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays for dine in or carry out. Contact them at (563) 532-8978.  Check out their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/pg/twotreespizzallc/posts/.
