The Decorah FFA had a terrific day at the Northeast Iowa FFA District Convention hosted by Sumner-Fredericksburg High School on March 9th. 25 Decorah FFA members participated in nine state-qualifying contests and two test contests. Three contest entries received gold and advanced to state. The chapter also had one contest receive a gold rating and was selected as alternate to state. One additional contest received a gold rating, two contests received a silver rating, and two contests received a bronze rating.
The three events advancing to the state contest and receiving a gold rating include Chapter Program: Braeley Ehrie, Bailey Miculinich, Stacia Sexton - 1st place; Reporter's Book: Brooke Courtney - 1st place; and Treasurer's Book: Keagen Einck - 2nd place.
The parliamentary procedure team of Lexi Averhoff, Ashley Nierling, Steven Sexton, Shayla Smith, and Alex Zweibohmer was selected as the alternate to the State FFA Leadership Conference and received a gold rating.
Additional events include Conduct of Meetings: Grace Gerleman, Kolten Gossman, Brendan Hunter, Ethan Frana, Kaia Franzen, Dalton Hemesath, Emmit Stemper - gold rating; Creed Speaking: Karter Einck - silver rating; Job Interview: Julianna Wise - silver rating; Ag Broadcasting: Kayanne Cooper - bronze; Chapter Website: Parker Monroe – bronze.
The chapter was also entered into two quiz contests, both as a team and individual.
Two members represented the chapter in the chapter FFA test. This test is designed to challenge FFA members with current FFA events and FFA history. The team of Carter Falck and Brian Phillips received a bronze rating.
The Decorah FFA also had three members compete in the Farm Business Management Contest. This contest is designed to test the knowledge of management information and economic principles. The team of Daniel Schwartzhoff, Brendan Lovstuen, and Keagen Einck placed 3rd place overall and received a gold rating. Daniel Schwartzhoff received 4th place individual and a gold rating, Brendan Lovstuen placed 5th place individually with a gold rating, and Keagen Einck received a silver rating.
The Decorah FFA will now compete at the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference in Ames on April 14th, 15th, and 16th.
