The Interim Decorah Community School Board has approved the renewal of the bus barn lease with Bruening Rock Products. The renewed agreement for one year at $4200 per month comes after a stalled attempt to find and construct a new bus barn facility. Even if a site were in place, it is estimated construction could take at least 14 months. Superintendent Haluska expressed appreciation for the flexibility in contract renewal by Bruening.
The Board also approved the annual audit bid of $30,350 by Hacker, Nelson & Co. P.C. The bid is an increase of $890, but will deal with the complexities of the merged North Winneshiek and Decorah districts. They have dealt with such mergers at North Fayette Valley. Both the North Winneshiek and Decorah boards expressed appreciation for the year-round consulting and assistance from the company.
