The Iowa Department of Transportation will open bids May 24th on a project to replace the bridge on Oneota Drive, near the Decorah Campground.
McClure Engineering staff members have met with city of Decorah representatives to go over the final details of the bid specifications. McClure's Bhooshan Karnik says the project will be done in such a way as to always have one lane open to traffic on the lightly-traveled road.
The Iowa DOT will pay 80 percent of the cost of the project up to $1 million, with the city paying 20 percent and any costs over $1.25 million.
The Decorah City Council is expected to vote June 3rd on whether to accept the bids on replacement of the bridge.
