Bids approved for a $577,000 remodeling of the Winneshiek County Jail

Bids have been accepted on a project to upgrade security at the Winneshiek County Jail.

Two contracts have been accepted--David Finholt Construction of Decorah was the low bidder on general contracting with their bid of $142,688 while See Electric of Decorah submitted a bid for electrical work totaling $434,653.

That means the project will have a total price tag of just a little over $577,000.  That's $116,857 less than the bids which were opened on the project in December.

The county's engineering consultant on the project has been in contact with both contractors and has been discussing a preliminary schedule for the work.
