The National Weather Service is now predicting the Turkey River will crest Friday morning rather than Thursday evening.
Updated flood predictions place the crest around mid-morning Friday.
More importantly, the depth of the river crest has been lowered slightly. It is now expected to be 14.8 feet--down almost half a foot from earlier predictions.
Thursday afternoon the river stage in Spillville had reached almost 11 feet, which is considered "moderate" flood stage, but there were no problems with roads in town. The Turkey River's highest crest ever came a little less than two and a half years ago, when it hit 20.25 feet on August 24th of 2016.
