Much warmer temperatures are arriving in Northeast Iowa over the next two days, with readings in the 40s and 50s Wednesday and Thursday.
As a result, snow will melt across Northeast Iowa. When added to periods of rain with amounts up to an inch, flooding is likely into late week, especially along the Turkey River and, to a lesser extent, the Upper Iowa River.
Furthermore, the break-up of ice on rivers could also heighten the risk for flooding.
A Flood Watch is in effect for Northeast Iowa through Thursday night. The latest river forecasts predict the Turkey River will crest at 5.5 feet above flood stage in Spillville and at 11 feet above flood stage, with the crests coming on Friday.
