Will we set a record for February snowfall? Tuesday will tell

It has been a very snowy February in Decorah.
Through Sunday, total snowfall in Decorah during February has been 25.5 inches. That's a lot of snow. It is not, however, a record.
The snowiest February in the last 120 years of weather records was 1962, when Decorah received 26.3 inches of snow. February of 2007 was second, with 26.2 inches.
However, this February could still take the top ranking. The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse says snow is likely, mainly after 2:00 p.m. and is also likely Tuesday night. How much snow is likely? "New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible" Tuesday afternoon and "New snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible" Tuesday night. A total of 0.8 inches of snow would set a new record for Decorah. If less than that amount falls on Tuesday, the record will be out of reach--no snow is predicted for Wednesday or Thursday.
