Numerous Decorah HS speech students will advance to State

Decorah High School students received a total of 39 Division One ratings at the District Individual Speech Contest hosted by Decorah High School over the weekend. 

All individuals receiving division one ratings will be participating in the Northeast Individual Speech State Contest hosted by Waldorf College in Forest City on Saturday, March 9th.

DHS Varsity individuals advancing include the following:
--Amber Hussain, Jordyn Hussain, Leila Johnson in Solo Musical Theater
--Celia Lesmeister, Sawyer Vanden Brink in Spontaneous Speaking
--Tyler Irwin in Improvisation
--Stacia Sexton, Abby Hanson, Peter Wilson in Radio News Announcing
--Sydney Landstrom, Storme Barr, Billy Lange in Expository Address
--Sarah Pedlar, Maillie McCabe in Original Oratory
--Allison Groux in Public Address
--Gabe Anderson, Christian Johnson in After Dinner Speaking
--Ally Bouska in Acting
--Keely Hermanson, Natalie Tapscott, Payton Schutte in Literary Program
--Owen Burgdorf-Hibbs, Sarah Mumford in Poetry
--Emma Fretheim in Prose
--Kendra Bigler, Maddie Putnam, Kaj Spencer in Storytelling

--Grace Robison, Mikiah Krieg in Solo Musical Theater
--Landan Folkedahl in Public Address
--Anya Lovstuen in Radio News Announcing
--Anya Lovstuen in Review
--Dylan Muhlbauer in Expository Address
--Madi Castro in Original Oratory
--Grace Bachelder, Simon Mumford in Acting
--Landan Folkedahl in Improvisation
--Madi Castro in Prose

In all, the DHS Varsity Team received 27 division one ratings and the DHS 9th Grade Team received 11 division one ratings. The students were coached by Molly Holkesvik, Carrie Kauffman, Gabe Twedt, and Kristen Underwood.
