25 Decorah FFA members competed at the Northwest Iowa FFA Sub-districts at Oelwein High School recently. Six event entries were selected to advance to the Northeast Iowa FFA District Convention to be held on Saturday, March 9th, at Sumner-Fredericksburg High School. The chapter also had one contest receive alternate recognition and another contest received a silver rating.
The six events advancing to the district contest include Creed Speaking: Karter Einck � 1st place, gold; Job Interview: Julianna Wise, 1st place, gold; Ag broadcasting: Kayanne Cooper � 2nd place, gold; Chapter Program: Braeley Ehrie, Bailey Miculinich, and Stacia Sexton � 2nd place, silver; Conduct of Meetings Team: Grace Gerleman, Kolten Gossman, Brendan Hunter, Ryan Johanningmeier, Kaia Franzen, Dalton Hemesath, and Emmit Stemper � 2nd place, Gold; Parliamentary Procedure: Lexi Averhoff, Ashley Nierling, Steven Sexton, Shayla Smith, and Alex Zweibohmer - 2nd place, silver.
The chapter's public speaking contestant, Maillie McCabe, received a gold rating and was selected as the alternate to districts. The chapter's extemporaneous speaking contestant, Jared Carolan, received a silver.
Five members represented the Decorah chapter in the chapter quiz. Results included Ethan Frana � 1st place, gold; Izzy Kingsbury � 2nd place, silver; Paige Aten � 3rd place, silver; Garrett Lovstuen � 6th place, silver; and Tyler Bullerman � 8th place, bronze.
