Tina asks, "I have a question that maybe you can help answer. My husband and I are new to the area and both have full-time jobs and no family in the area. What do others in the same boat do for childcare during school closures? Is there some childcare option that we aren't aware of?"
The Answer Person says: "Most child care centers in the area do not offer 'drop in' child care due to the complexity of state regulations, but there is a resource that may be of help. The Iowa Child Care Resource Center keeps a database of all registered child care providers in the area. IACCRC child care consultant supervisor Teri Orr says they are constantly updating their database so contacting the center would be a great option to learn what resources are available when there is a school closure."
