Bus barn issue remains unresolved

Two members of the Decorah School Board will be visiting Charles City in the near future to look at that school district's recently-built bus barn.
School board member Brian Petersburg says he believes there is a lot of value in looking at another school bus barn and getting feedback from school officials about what has worked well and what hasn't.
Petersburg told his fellow interim school board members on Wednesday night, "There are a lot of things we don't have answers to, even though there's been a lot of discussion."
Meanwhile, a member of the bus barn committee, Lyle Halverson, who has been critical of the recommendations of the rest of the committee, said during public input time that he had talked with a contractor who gave an estimate of $250,000 to construct a building addition to the Fox & Coon Club. "We can get this done for a lot less money than the taxpayers are anticipating," he told the school board. Halverson asked for time at a future school board meeting to present his information. However, such a request was not on the school board's agenda, so it took no action Wednesday night.
