Sheriff's Office warns of scams

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office is warning area residents of an ongoing telephone scam.

The callers claim to be relatives of the person they're calling.  They tell the person they've won a government grant.

Says the Sheriff's Office, "Please remember these are scams and you should never give out any personal information or send any money to these scammers."
