In a sign that the race for the presidency has begun in Iowa, the Winneshiek County Democratic Party will host a presidential candidate at its St. Patrick's Day fundraiser.
Delaney is a Maryland Congressman who has visited Decorah before--once last July and once last October. He is seen by observers as a moderate. For instance, he says he'd support giving everyone under the age of 65 a basic government health plan, then allowing insurance companies to sell supplemental plans that would cover what isn't covered under the basic plan.
Delaney will speak Sunday, March 15th, at the Lingonberry on Water Street in downtown Decorah. The St. Patrick's Day fundraiser will run from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. A time has not yet been publicized for Delaney's speech.
John Delaney spoke to an audience at Java John's during his first visit to Decorah last July.
