(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Max Hunter of Decorah, a member of the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, in response to Thomas Hansen's recent Letter to the Editor):

"I have found that Farm Bureau has been encouraging of diversification. Are you a member of Farm Bureau? Check out the front page of the January 30th edition of the Iowa Farm Bureau Spokesman. You'll see an article titled "Industrial Hemp Makes a Comeback." Farm Bureau's stance on helping young farmers is unprecedented, and not just with corn and soybeans. In fact, at the Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmers Conference just last weekend, there was a seminar entitled "Finding your Niche" which was based solely on young farmers raising alternative crops!

I'm proud to be a member of Farm Bureau, a grassroots organization that has carefully listened to and worked with all types of Farmers from across the state of Iowa for over 100 years.
