Master's Touch, Decorah's Christian book and gift store, is getting a new owner.
Businesswoman and Decorah native Kate Rattenborg says she has purchased the business from Shari Brink of Waukon. "It is important to keep our main street retail businesses strong" stated Rattenborg. "Master's Touch has a loyal customer base, and I'm appreciative of the opportunity to own and manage this business in addition to Decorah's indie bookstore, Dragonfly Books."
Brink made the decision to sell the business in order that she can spend more time with her growing family. "I am so excited that Kate is the new owner. The retail knowledge and experience that she brings to Master's Touch is a true gift, and I look forward to the great things she will do, not only for Master's Touch, but for downtown Decorah as a whole."
Rattenborg has no immediate plans to make major changes to the business. Long-time employee Cheryl Bollman will be continuing with the business, as well as Mary Grube, a more recent addition to the staff.
Rattenborg plans to have her staff from Dragonfly Books cross-trained, so they can work in both of the stores. "I will be relying on the expertise of our long-time employees to help me absorb the differences in running the two separate, yet related, businesses. I will be splitting my time between the two stores, and I look forward to meeting new customers, and continuing the mission of Master's Touch."
Master's Touch, located at 104 W. Water St. in Decorah, can be reached at 563-382-4432.
