Because Luther College has a residential campus, the college is keeping its campus open during the bitterly cold temperatures--to ensure that students on campus continue to have necessary facilities and services to be safe.

Wednesday is the last day of J-term classes, with break beginning on Thursday. The campus is open during the J-term break.

The following actions are being taken to address the extreme weather conditions this week.

--Two vans will circulate around campus for students, staff and faculty to use to go between buildings during meals, practice and class time. From 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, two Luther vans will run continuously between Regents Center (traffic circle), Miller Hall, Ylvisaker, Union, Farwell, Olson (North Street entrance), CFA, library lot, College Apartments and Baker Commons.  From 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, vans will run continuously between Miller Hall, Ylvisaker, Union, Farwell, Larsen, Olson (North Street entrance), College Apartments and Baker Commons.

--Breakfast items-to-go will be available Wednesday evening at Grab and Go during the evening meal hours, so students who choose to may stay in their rooms for breakfast. The Cafeteria will also be open for breakfast.

--The Regents Center will have a late open at 8 a.m. (rather than 6 a.m.) on Wednesday and Thursday morning. The Regents Center will close early at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

--Intramurals have been canceled for Wednesday evening.

--For students scheduled to return to campus from J-term trips on Wednesday, arrangements have been made for them to stay in hotels in their destination city overnight and return to campus on Thursday.

--For students who have arranged for a shuttle to go home for J-term break, the departure has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday.

--Special arrangements have been made for security and facilities staff to stay overnight on campus during this time in case of emergencies.
