The Iowa House of Representatives is scheduled to take a vote Monday afternoon on a committee recommendation that 29 absentee ballots cast in Winneshiek County in Iowa House District 55 not be included in the final vote total.
The Elections Contest Committee had made that recommendation, saying the ballots did not comply with the rules passed by the legislature in 2016 on which absentee ballots could be counted.
The committee split along party lines, with three Republicans voting in favor of the report and two Democrats voting against the report and submitting their own minority report.
A bus trip to Des Moines from Decorah is being organized by those opposed to the Elections Contest Committee's conclusion. The 56-passenger bus will leave from the parking lot across from City Hall at 9:00 a.m. Monday.
