The Depot Outlet has donated $50,000 to the Decorah Volunteer Fire Department to help pay for the department's new Training Facility.
The donation was approved during the Depot Outlet's annual meeting earlier in January, receiving enthusiastic support from those in attendance.
The Decorah Volunteer Fire Department is planning to construct a training center to be used by not only the Decorah Fire Department but also the surrounding fire departments as well as law enforcement and EMS.
The facility would be used to train emergency response crews, using a grain bin, an anhydrous ammonia tank, power line poles and temporary buildings constructed from shipping containers. It would be built on property south of the county's highway department buildings on Old Stage Road.
