School Board tables discussion of bus barn, and transportation position

The Interim Decorah Community School Board has tabled discussion of proposed bus barn sites, due to director absences at their Wednesday meeting. The bus barn committee members who would have been critical to the discussion, Brian Petersburg and Krista Vanden Brink, were absent.

The Board also tabled discussion/approval of a transportation position that would combine a driver with mechanic and maintenance work. That topic was tabled pending development of a position description and legal opinion regarding hiring of an internal candidate for that role. They may attempt to address that position in the near future via a special meeting .

The Board did approve the purchase of two new International CE 77 passenger buses, for about $87, 000 each, after trade-ins worth about $4,000. The district typically purchases two buses per year.
