The Decorah City Council Monday night approved borrowing up to $750,000—up to $575,000 for a variety of repair projects to city buildings and up to $175,000 for water and sewer projects.
$175,000 of the borrowing would be paid back through water and sewer fees, while $575,000 of the borrowing would be paid back through property taxes. The bonds would be paid back over a three-year period.
Water and sewer projects include painting and maintenance on elevated storage tanks and significant repairs and coatings to the concrete Ronan storage tanks.
General fund projects include several structural issues on the library building--$60,000 for interior painting, $36,000 for new rooftop air conditioning units, $34,000 for roof tuck pointing, $33,000 for new flooring and undetermined amounts for entryway cement repairs, work on outside stairs, work on the rear ramp and dock concrete, and additional gutter and roofing repairs.
City council members unanimously approved the resolution Monday night.
