Newly-elected County Recorder Jayne Schultz was sworn into office Wednesday along with several other elected county officials.
Schultz had served as Deputy Recorder in the Winneshiek County Recorders Office for 15 years before the incumbent County Recorder, Teresa Bockman, announced plans to retire. That led Schultz to announce her campaign for the office, running as an Independent.
Schultz earned an Associate's Degree in business, then worked as an independent business owner and an office manager before working as Deputy Recorder at the Winneshiek County Recorders Office.
She tells decorahnews.com there will be a couple of changes in the office because of her election and Teresa Bockman's retirement. Schultz had been the passport agent in the office, but that task will now be handled by Lisa Grinna. Schultz will now be handling birth records. She says it's also possible the office will add a third person on a part-time basis.
