(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Jim Martin-Schramm of Decorah):
"An official report filed with a Polk County judge found that 29 absentee ballots cast in Iowa House District 55 were processed by the U.S. Postal Service on November 5th, which was in time to be counted. They have not been counted because they lack an official postmark. The judge has referred the matter to the Iowa Legislature. Bergan's challenger, Kayla Koether, has filed a challenge to the election of Michael Bergan with the Iowa House of Representatives. The legislature has taken no action so far.
Michael Bergan has been silent about the matter. He should represent the interests of his constituents and publicly urge the House to count the absentee ballots that were filed in time. He should also introduce legislation in the next session to solve this problem. 29 Iowans have been disenfranchised through no fault of their own."
