Letter to the Editor: Count all the votes

"Regarding the election in Iowa House District 55: Count the votes.

I would hold this stance no matter what party or candidate was seeking a recount--even if it may favor a candidate I despise. This is not nor should be a partisan issue. Both Koether and Bergan should support having all votes counted when it can be proven they were cast on time.

It has been shown that the 29 ballots in question in District 55 were cast on time. Some suggest we must adhere strictly to the verbiage of the law. However, it would be blatantly un-democratic to deny these voters of their right merely because of arbitrary wording in the law determining specifically what constitutes a legally cast ballot! Common sense should overrule here. It has clearly been shown those votes were from legal voters and they were cast on time. Count their votes!"
