The Iowa Great Places program is awarding a $155,000 grant to the City of Decorah. The money will help pay for a $371,043 project to preserve "iconic stone structures" in several Decorah parks.

The grant will help pay for the rehabilitation of steps, pillars, and landings at Ice Cave State Preserve.

Dunning Springs improvements will include new signage and new stone elements.

Phelps Park work will include the rehabilitation of walls, overlooks, pillars, steps, landings and a fountain

Pulpit Rock Park work will include the rehabilitation of steps, walls, pillars and enhanced signage.

The grant for Decorah was part of nearly $1 million in grants announced Thursday for projects in Burlington, Decorah, Dubuque, Malvern and Maquoketa.  The biggest grant and biggest project will be a $300,000 Great Places grant to Dubuque for riverfront projects.
