The Decorah Fire Department, Frankville Fire Department and Ossian Fire Department have all received grants from the Iowa DNR.

The money is coming from the DNR's Forestry Section, in cooperation with US Forest Service.  The 50 percent cost-sharing grants are targeted to rural fire departments in Iowa to aid in their efforts in protecting people and property from wildfires.

The Decorah Fire Department and Frankville Fire Department each received $3,500 grants.  The Ossian Fire Department was given a $1,746 grant.  Grants were also given to fire departments in Cresco, Waukon and Postville.

The grants help purchase wildfire suppression equipment, personal protective equipment, and communications equipment.
