The Iowa Democratic Party is publicizing an on-line petition drive calling for a judge to allow 29 dispute absentee ballots to be counted in the Iowa House District 55 election.
An Iowa Democratic Party news release states, "Nearly 10,000 voters are asking that 29 uncounted absentee ballots be counted in a very narrow and hotly contested Iowa House race, after it was determined that the ballots arrived on time to be considered valid votes."
The online petition was started by Winneshiek County voters. However, the figure quoted by the Iowa Democratic Party represents 8,800 voters from outside Iowa and 1,200 voters from Iowa. It is not known what percentage of the 1,200 Iowans who have signed the "Count Their Votes!" petition live in House District 55.
