On Tuesday evening the Interim School Board for the soon to be merged Decorah Community Schools met to put final touches on the interview process for a new superintendent. Superintendent Mike Haluska is retiring at the end of this school year.
Board Chair Ron Fadness shared that the group discussed the interview process and the composition of the interview teams. Applications will close January 1, and the board will meet in closed session on January 7 to review applications and select a group of 8-10 candidates to conduct Skype interviews with on January 22. On January 28 there will be interviews of three finalists. Those will include public meetings conducted by the interview teams over the course of the day. The board will meet that evening to (hopefully) make the final decision.
