Gemini offers scholarship for DHS students interested in engineering

Posted: Tue, Dec 11, 2018 9:15 AM

Decorah High School students thinking about a career in engineering are encouraged to apply to Gemini, Inc. for a Ross Wagner Scholarship. These scholarships award up to $25,000 each year to a maximum of $100,000 over four years to attend one of the top 30 engineering schools in the United States and Canada.

The scholarships are available through the fund established by Gemini, and were created in honor of Ross Wagner, the Chairman of Gemini's Board of Directors from 1988 to 1992.  The Ross Wagner Scholarships provide scholarships for students majoring in civil, biomedical, aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and chemical engineering. Students seeking degrees in chemistry and physics may also apply.

The Ross Wagner Scholarships are open to high school students in the United States and Canada only in communities where Gemini has plants, which includes Decorah. In addition, the student must attend one of the top 30 engineering schools in the U.S. and Canada as rated by U.S. News and World Report. Additionally, three Canadian schools--McGill University, the University of Waterloo and Simon Fraser University at Vancouver, British Columbia--are eligible. The scholarship recipient must maintain a B grade-point average, work in the school's engineering lab, and work in the field of endeavor during summer break.

To apply or for a complete list of guidelines for the Ross Wagner Scholarship, visit the website at rosswagnerfoundation.org or contact Nancy Vandergon at Gemini Incorporated at (507) 263-3957. Applications are due by February 1st of 2019.
