Kerndt Brothers Insurance Agency, which services Decorah, Waukon, Lansing, Clermont, and West Union, has made a donation to help winter rescues on the Mississippi River.
The insurance agency has donated a new ice rescue saw to the Lansing Fire Department. The new rescue saw replaces an older model that had become unreliable. Ice rescue saws are specially-designed to quickly cut through ice in cold water and ice rescue situations. The ice rescue saw will be used by the Lansing Fire Department and will be available to other fire departments in NE Iowa.
Kerndt Brothers Insurance President Gary DeVilbiss says, "When we learned that the previous ice rescue tool might not work when it was needed most, we contacted Chief Tony Becker to see how we could be of assistance."
