It was wet again in Decorah in November

Decorah meteorologist Richard Bernatz says precipitation in Decorah in November was above normal--the eighth straight month of above-average precipitation.

With a rainfall of 1.4 inches on November 4th, Decorah ended the month with 2.29 inches of rain--0.45 inches above average.  Dating back to December of last year, that means 10 of the past 12 months have had higher than average precipitation.  In fact both May and September precipitation was nine inches above average.

Accompanying the rainfall were cooler temperatures.  The 15-day stretch from November 6th through November 20th was the second coldest on record for that stretch of days.  Temperatures for the entire month averaged 29.58 degrees, which was more than 5.5 degrees cooler than average.

The cool November followed a cool October, making the last two months the first back-to-back colder than average months in Decorah since the winter of 2014.
