Decorah Police say Thanksgiving enforcement program was successful

Ten Decorah Police Department officers took part in a Special Traffic Enforcement Program from November 18th through the 25th, during the Thanksgiving holiday.

They report making three narcotics arrests during the time period.  Additionally, 10 citations were issued for speeding, two citations for not using seatbelts and three citations for stop sign or stop light violations.  Additionally, 40 motorists were issued warnings.

Police say seat belt usage in Decorah was 89 percent before the STEP and 94 percent after.
