A Castalia farmer has been honored as a "Woman Impacting Agriculture."
37-year-old Caite Palmer is married and raising two children under the age of two, while also raising grass-fed, grain-finished Angus X and Normande beef and Katahdin lambs on the Palmer family Century Farm in Winneshiek County.
While doing this, Caite contributes to her rural economy by teaching and mentoring new farmers through the ISU Beginning Farmer Network via participation in local forums and work days.
Caite and her husband, Jim, have also been involved in Practical Farmers of Iowa. Caite continually answers questions regarding navigating the business, legal and regulatory system.
Caite was nominated for the recognition by ISU Farm & Agribusiness Management Specialist Melissa O'Rourke.
