Iowa Secretary of State's Office officially declares Michael Bergan the winner in Iowa House District 55

Following ballot recounts in Clayton and Winneshiek counties on Tuesday, the Iowa Secretary of State Office has officially named Republican Michael Bergan as the winner of the election in Iowa House District 55.

A news release from the office says, "Bipartisan three-member boards conducted vote recounts in Clayton and Winneshiek counties for the House District 55 race. Republican Michael Bergan increased his margin of victory to nine votes over Democrat Kayla Koether, bringing the final total to 6,924 votes for Bergan and 6,915 votes for Koether."
 
The Winneshiek County Board is conducting an official canvass at noon Wednesday.  The official Iowa State Canvass to certify the results of the 2018 General Election is scheduled for Monday, December 3rd.
