Recount in Winneshiek County gives another 5 votes to Michael Bergan, another 2 votes to Kayla Koether

The three-person board appointed to do a recount of ballots cost in Winneshiek County for Iowa House District 55 has completed its work.

The new vote totals (covering Winneshiek County only) are:

--Republican Michael Bergan 4,107 votes (5 more than previously)

--Democrat Kayla Koether 4,696 votes (2 more than previously)

The recounted ballots, when added to a Clayton County recount which gave one more vote to Koether, give Bergan a nine vote margin of victory in the election.

The Winneshiek County results will be certified by the Board of Supervisors at noon Wednesday.
