4:00PM UPDATE: Ballot counting continues, with few changes to the vote totals so far

A three-person board is helping Winneshiek County to recount ballots cast in the Iowa House District 55 election.
But Jim Beeghley, Jim Burns and Craig Cutting so far have found only minor changes that they ruled must be made. Two votes were added to the total cost for Republican Michael Bergan, while one vote was added to the total for Democrat Kayla Koether. Meanwhile, a recount board in Clayton County ruled Koether should be credited with one more vote in that county.
When those changes were added together, Bergan still led in the overall vote totals by the same seven-vote margin he held at the start of the day.
The Winneshiek County recount board is down to counting ballots in four precincts and would like to complete its task today. A meeting of the Winneshiek County Board has been scheduled for 12:00 noon on Wednesday for an official vote on the canvass results--and Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines says the recount board should not have any trouble meeting that deadline.
