17-year-old Jacob Seelinger of Decorah faces one count of first degree murder and one count of causing willful injury in connection with the August 31st death of 46-year-old Dave Hansen of Decorah.
Hansen was the victim July 12th of what police officers described as a "brutal" beating at his home in Freeport. Seelinger and another Decorah resident, Dalton Adam, were taken into custody in July and charged with attempted murder--charges which were changed to first degree murder after Hansen died.
A pretrial conference in Seelinger's case had been scheduled for Tuesday, with a trial on December 12th. But Seelinger's attorney now has filed a motion for a continuance in the case. No ruling has been made yet on the motion, so the date of Seelinger's murder trial is uncertain.
