Fire destroys farm building and equipment

A large farm building and the equipment inside were destroyed by fire on Saturday evening.
The Decorah Fire Department was called to the Harry Bigler farm at 3056 Middle Sattre Road, northeast of Decorah, at around 5:45 Saturday evening. The Mabel Fire department and Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance were also called.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a 32 x 136 foot building completely engulfed in flames. There was farm equipment in the building and there were round bales which were also inside. The building was considered a total loss. No dollar estimate is available at this time. The building and contents were insured.
The Decorah Fire department was on scene for three hours. Firefighters pumped over 13,000 gallons of water onto the fire from a nearby farm pond. No injuries were reported.
