The Toys Go 'Round Toy Lending Library now will have until the end of next June to find a new location for their program and move out of the Decorah Public Library.
Members of the Decorah Public Library Board of Trustees approved the three-month extension Friday afternoon after Toys Go 'Round Board President Ana Olson Johnson outlined several reason for the extension request.
Olson Johnson told Library Trustees that the search for a new location "takes time;" that the Toys Go 'Round Board doesn't have money to pay moving expenses because it didn't know it would have to move; that the work which needs to be done "cannot happen overnight;" that the Toys Go 'Round program has only toys and some office furniture and will need to buy a computer system and other new resources; that winter is a difficult time of year to accomplish a move; and that Toys Go 'Round has a small number of volunteers who can do this work.
Olson Johnson added that TGR "is thankful to have been part of the services offered in this library."
Library Board member Bob Felde, who made the motion to give TGR a three-month extension, said the reasons given by Toys Go 'Round made perfect sense. Felde's motion passed unanimously.
