Dr. Elizabeth "Libby" Abbas is the newest addition to the medical staff at Gundersen Decorah Clinic.

Dr. Abbas grew up in Frederika and graduated from Tripoli. She then received her bachelor of arts degree in biology and minor in chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa, her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency.

"I knew that I wanted to come back to Iowa to practice full-spectrum, rural family medicine close to home," says Dr. Abbas. "I am grateful for the incredible education and experience I had growing up in small town Iowa and wanted to give back and serve these communities as a physician."

In addition to primary care services, Dr. Abbas will offer a wide variety of other services including obstetrics for expecting mothers; integrative medicine –which combines complementary and alternative medicine practices with conventional medicine to improve health and healing; osteopathic manipulative medicine; and prolotherapy, an injection technique that helps relieve pain due to joint instability, sprains, arthritis and other injuries.
