Six veterans work for the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office

Sunday was Veterans Day, a day for recognizing the contributions Veterans have made to our country.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office is recognizing all veterans--including the six who work for the department:

DEPUTY LEE GOEDKEN:
Served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Infantry for 4 years.  Deployed overseas numerous times including combat action in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

DEPUTY ANDY HAGEMAN:
Served in the Army Reserve 322nd Engineer Company out of Decorah for 6 years.  Deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.

DEPUTY MIKE FOLAND:
Served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years.  Deployed on 2 Mediterranean Cruises, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Operation Provide Comfort during the Gulf War.

DEPUTY BYRON HOOK:
Served in the Army Reserve as a Staff Sergeant for 13 years.  Deployed to Iraq in 2003 with the Decorah Unit and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with the Decorah Unit.

DEPUTY DEANA TORGRIM:
Serving in the Army Reserve since 1992.  Served 10 years active duty and is currently an instructor for the Army Reserve.

DEPUTY DAVID FROMM:
Served in the Army with the 43rd Combat Engineer Company out of Fort Carson, Colorado, for 5 years.  Deployed to Iraq in 2003 and again in 2005.  During his second tour Dave was shot and received the Purple Heart.
