(Megan asks Mr. Answer Person: "Is there still going to be a new Army Reserve Unit coming to Decorah?"):
Mr. Answer Person says: "In January we reported that two Reserve units will be based in Decorah in the future: "the US Army has notified the City of Decorah that two Reserve units will be moving their headquarters into the Decorah facility. A military police unit from Worthington, Minnesota with around 45 members and a logistics unit from Des Moines with around 25 members will both be moving into the Decorah building, according to City Administrator Chad Bird. Under the terms of the lease of the city-owned building to the Army, control of the building remains in the hands of the Army as long as Reserve units continue to be based there."
We checked again with Chad Bird, who says the plans are now to have Reserve units use the facility starting next September. That means—as we stated in our January story—that the building will remain under the control of the Army Reserve and will NOT be handed over to the City of Decorah."
