Big turnout for Election Day 2018!

Tuesday is Election Day in Winneshiek County, which is already shaping up to be a record-setter for "off-year" elections.

There are 14,155 registered voters in Winneshiek County as of Election Day.  As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, 5,458 of those registered voters had cast absentee ballots.  That represents a 38 percent turnout--BEFORE Election Day itself!  There are another 227 absentee ballots that have been mailed out, but haven't been returned to the Auditor's Office yet.  Those ballots can be brought to the Auditor's Office on Tuesday and still be counted.

The County Auditor's Office is reminding voters of changes in Iowa Election Law that now requires proof of identity to vote.  If you are registered to vote at your current address, bring one of the following forms of ID to the polls:  an Iowa Driver's License (or DOT issued Non-Driver ID Card); a passport; a military or veteran ID card; or a Voter ID Card (only issued to registered voters without a Drivers License or DOT ID)
