If you know someone who farms in Winneshiek County, chances are very good that he or she was very, very busy last week.
Late last week, Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig, on a trip to Decorah, told decorahnews.com the weather "couldn't have been better" for getting crops out of the field.
Naig says the crops have done better than expected, in spite of a rainy season. He says there have been spotty areas in northern Iowa where yields have been lower because of rainfall and spotty areas in southern Iowa where yields have been lower because of dry conditions, but overall, the fall harvest has been much better than farmers might have expected a month ago or so.
