With the mid-term election right around one week away, political parties are switching their focus from persuading undecided voters to making sure their party's supporters cast ballots.

That was the case Saturday evening for Winneshiek County Democrats, who got some help in turning out the vote when Maryland Congressman John Delaney, who has already announced he's a candidate for President in 2020, visited Decorah.

Delaney has been active in Iowa politics as part of his campaign for president.  In August he endorsed the Iowa House candidacy of Kayla Koether of Decorah and contributed to her campaign.  Statewide, Delaney has given over $250,000 to Iowa candidates and committees and has been providing local candidates with staff and field support.

Saturday Delaney went knocking on doors in Decorah, visiting registered Democrats to make sure they were going to vote.  He spent two hours with local Democrats doing vote canvassing.
